After years of being a stay at home mom and corporate travel agent, Melanie Roberts returned to school in 2002 to become a Certified Medical Billing and Coding Specialist. Her first medical office job was at a 14 physician gastroenterology practice in Birmingham, Alabama, however she soon discovered that sitting at a computer entering codes all day was not her forte’. The practice realized her skills were better utilized as a liaison between the patients and physicians and assigned the endearing title of “bubble girl,” entering the patient’s pertinent medical information from a computerized bubble form and preparing them to be seen by the physician. On a personal level, she noticed the lack of medical professionals that offered information on bio-identical hormone therapy and was intrigued with articles and interviews written by Dr. Bawa. She began working at Dr. Bawa and Associates in 2013 as an office support assistant and continues to learn from Dr. Bawa and his staff about the benefits of bio-identical hormones, weight loss, and internal medicine. A self-proclaimed “poster child for menopause” she learns more about quality of life benefits found in hormone replacement. When away from the office Melanie enjoys jogging, beach time, music, dancing, enjoying the beautiful 30A area, and watching her beloved LSU football games.
